Psematismenos Village

The pretty, traditional village of Psematismenos lies in a rural yet convenient location mid way between Limassol and Larnaka and only 35 minutes drive from Nicosia. The sea is just 5km (Maroni and Zyggi) and the main A1 arterial highway only 1km away. The famous beaches of Governor’s Beach are only 8 km away. 

The history of Psematismenos can be traced back more than 600 years and boasts two ancient churches. One of its many historic buildings - now a pleasant restaurant – is where, in 1917, Lord Kitchener based himself when mapping the locality. Many original village houses remain and are being skillfully renovated to retain their traditional style and charm. The narrow side streets are newly cobbled to recreate a time gone by. 

The small village maintains a strong sense of community where new residents and visitors alike are made very welcome. Psematismenos is surrounded by olive and citrus groves and agricultural land, which form the basis of the local economy.

Santa Marina is situated just above the old village, enjoying an elevated position with a scenic outlook over the surrounding countryside to the hills and the sea.
