CYPRUS ECONOMY & GROWTH
Steady Growth of Cyprus Economy started to be regained
as from July 2015 after the worldwide economic crisis that started to hit
Cyprus in 2011.
In 2016 its GDP rose to 2.7% and is expected to
rise 3.4% mainly due to the increase of tourism (in 2016 3.1 million people and
by the end of 2017 are expected to reach 4 million people, from the already
recorded increase of 3.7 million end of July 2017), increasing from year to
year and reaching 5 million people in 2020-2022 because of the increase in construction (residential,
commercial hotels) and sales of property and the expected operation of the Casino Resort in Lemesos, and its 4
Satellites in all Towns and free Famagusta District. Cyprus Economy has been upgraded
by Rating Organisations reaching to 1 point lower to the Funding accreditation,
expected soon to attain this. Also the main Banks’ ratings reached to a
satisfactory level.
Based on Eurostat Statistics,
Cyprus has had the highest growth of 32.5% in construction in the whole
Eurozone during the 2nd quarter of 2017 (where elsewhere in EU the growth was
between 3.7% to 4.4%).
